Noelle Loves LA Galbi
Summertime Dinner 🍽
Noelle’s Notes: The summertime is my favorite time to bbq LA Galbi. In the early evening when it’s not too hot outside my husband will get the charcoal bbq ready. We sit outside with our iced tea and I bbq. Recently, we had LA Galbi for dinner. The photo above is my husband’s plate with all the delicious food I made. He’s not a huge fan of rice 🍚 crazy right 😜 Stop the presses 📰 How can you have LA Galbi without rice- that’s like peanut butter and jelly sandwich 🥪 without the bread 🍞.

Not pictured above: my homemade vegan 🌱 kimchi.
Its a two day process to marinate my LA Galbi. I purchase my LA Galbi meat from Han Kook Korean grocery store in Sunnyvale, California. They have the best speciality cuts of Korean beef all USDA approved and made in the USA.
Fried Tofu with Soy Sauce
Fried tofu in soy sauce is so simple and easy to make. Simply fry the tofu in a non stick pan and then drizzle the soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, garlic and sesame seed dressing on top, then add green onions. Vegan and delicious.
Apple Banchan is one of my favorite side dishes to Korean BBQ. I love the thinly slices of sweet apples, the freshness of the celery and the creaminess of the mayonnaise.
Potato salad is classic and essential to any BBQ. In the potato salad above I added the Japanese Mayo Kewpie, fried cubes of SPAM, Persian Cucumber and carrots. This is definitely an Asian version of potato salad different than classic American potato salad but so delicious and packed with veggies and flavor!
Growing up my parents and brother always ate the Seafood pancake when we had eaten at Korean BBQ. We would always order the Vegetable pancake (thankfully, I never got sick with cross contamination due to my shellfish allergy). Now as an adult, I make my own vegetable pancake at home. I buy the flour at Han Kook and all the fresh vegetables. It’s simple and delicious.
Cooking and baking has always been a passion of mine. To my readers- think of your favorite food or dessert and try making it at home. Nothing is better than homemade. With lots of practice you too can be the master chef of your favorite foods- savoy or sweet!
